 Survey Field TECHNICIAN (Temporary; Two Openings)

Shawnee Professional Services has two openings for a full-time temporary survey field technician at our location in Vienna, Illinois. This is a temporary position that may lead to a permanent position depending on employee performance and company workload.

The candidate will be expected to perform basic survey tasks include working under the direct supervision of the Professional Land Surveyor, Project Manager, and/or Survey Field Crew Chief, using field equipment to collect data, preliminary field work, corner searches, staking, maintaining records and field notes, carrying equipment, marking lines, driving signposts, upkeep and inventory of equipment and supplies, and other related tasks.

Minimum qualifications include effective communication skills, time management and organization skills, basic technological proficiency (email, mobile devices), physical ability to work 8-hour days and walk at least one mile in outdoor terrain, and a current valid driver’s license. No previous experience is required, though it is preferred.

PROJECT MANAGER (LAND SURVEYING)

Our Vienna, Illinois office has an opening for a full-time Project Manager. Candidate will be expected to take a lead role, managing all aspects of a broad variety of land surveys from client contact through budgeting to delivery under the supervision of a licensed Professional Land Surveyor.

Areas of work will include boundary surveys, ALTAs, topographic surveys, mapping, and other land surveying services for private landowners, governments, and commercial clients.

Tasks will include tracking and managing multiple projects (including timelines and budgets), research, survey computations, legal description composition, work direction for field technicians and CAD technicians, and client communication that is professional, effective, and prompt.

Survey Field CREW CHIEF

 Our Vienna, Illinois office has an opening for a full-time survey field crew chief. Candidate will be expected to perform survey field crew chief tasks as listed below, with other expectations as assigned. 

Basic tasks include working under the direct supervision of the Professional Land Surveyor and/or Project Manager, providing direction to other survey field technicians on site, meeting with clients on site, using field equipment to collect data, preliminary field work, corner searches, staking, oversight of field computations, maintaining records and field notes, upkeep and inventory of equipment and supplies, assisting in the training of field technicians, performing court house research, and the ability to read and understand maps and the rectangular system of surveying.
