SURVEY SERVICES

What is a Surveyor?

A surveyor is a trained, licensed professional who provides precise and accurate descriptions and maps of the surface features of the earth. Surveyors determine the exact location (surveying) and measurement of points, lines and contours of the Earth’s surface and prepare maps or reports showing specifications. They use instruments and the principles of geometry to find these exact measurements.

To locate features precisely and accurately on the earth’s surface, surveyors use legal research, study physical evidence, check the accuracy of the information gathered using mathematical computations, map the project using computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) systems, prepare maps, prepare reports, compose legal descriptions of the survey, and coordinate results with the work of engineers, architects, real estate professionals, attorneys, and clients.

Surveyors provide a vital service to the private community and real estate industries, providing a basis for confidence in property lines, utilities, topography, and other features. Using this information, surveyors support the work of engineers, architects, and other professionals.
